1st meeting of the Interpol Working Party on IT Crime - North Africa / Middle East
Amman, Jordan, 1-2 April 2007
The first meeting of the Interpol Working Party on IT Crime - North Africa/Middle East will take place in Amman, Jordan, from 1-2 April 2007. The Jordanian authorities kindly agreed to host this first meeting in the Arabic-speaking world in close co-operation with UNICEF.
As requested in the resolution on cyber-crime approved by Interpol’s General Assembly in Rio de Janeiro last year, the General Secretariat has set up IT Crime Working Groups in all regions in which they did not previously exist. This region is the last one to be covered. The General Secretariat has already started to translate important materials into Arabic and will continue this effort according to the requests at the upcoming meeting.
Topics at the meeting will include child abuse on the Internet, training courses to be held in the region, new technologies, and reports from the region. The activities of the other regional Working Parties will be presented and the tasks of the Steering Committee will be introduced to participants.
In the future, it is planned to organize such meetings for the region at least twice a year and additionally to conduct training courses using Interpol’s Mobile Classroom.
There will be interpretation in Arabic and English.
