LYON, France – Officers in Croatia, Australia and at the INTERPOL General Secretariat in Lyon, France, are working closely together following the disappearance of an Australian backpacker.

Britt Lapthorne, aged 21, went missing after she left a nightclub in Dubrovnik in the early hours of Thursday 18 September.

INTERPOL has issued a Yellow Notice – a global missing persons alert – to all 187 member countries at the request of Croatia, and its 24-hour Command and Co-ordination Centre is treating all incoming information relating to the case as high priority.

The General Secretariat is in constant communication with the INTERPOL National Central Bureaus in Zagreb and Canberra to ensure that any vital identifying information is immediately shared and acted upon.

All 187 National Central Bureaus have also been requested to forward as a matter of urgency any information which may be useful to the investigation.

Delegates at INTERPOL’S 77th General Assembly being held in St Petersburg, Russia from 7 to10 October have voted in favour of a resolution to encourage wider public circulation of Yellow Notices in order to assist police investigations to locate missing adults.
