Bamako, Mali – INTERPOL has promised its full support to the Malian authorities during the 23rd Africa France summit to be held on 3-4 December.
Leaders from nearly 40 African countries and French President Jacques Chirac are taking part in the conference in Bamako themed 'African youth: its vitality, its creativity, its aspirations.'
All 184 INTERPOL member countries have been requested to give the highest priority to messages and queries concerning the two day summit and the security of the high level international delegations travelling to Mali.
INTERPOL's assistance and co-operation with the Malian authorities was underlined by Secretary General Ronald K. Noble's visit to the capital on Wednesday when he met with the President Mr. Amadou Toumani Touré, and other senior government officials including the Prime Minister and the Minister for Homeland Security and Civil Protection.
Mr Noble also visited the INTERPOL National Central Bureau in Bamako which connected to the organization's global police communications system,
I-24/7
in July 2005, giving officers direct access to a range of databases, including those on stolen and lost travel documents, suspected
terrorists
and stolen vehicles.
