Media invitation for 36th INTERPOL European Regional Conference

LYON, France – Senior law enforcement officials from throughout Europe will meet in Varna, Bulgaria, from 30 May to 1 June for the 36th INTERPOL European Regional Conference.

The conference will focus on a range of issues, including expansion of access to INTERPOL’s databases, including Stolen and Lost Travel Documents, beyond National Central Bureaus and crime areas including people smuggling, drug trafficking and organized crime.

The opening ceremony and speeches by INTERPOL Secretary General Ronald K. Noble and Bulgaria’s Deputy Minister of Interior, Mr Rumen Andreev, will be open to the media at 9.30am on Wednesday, 30 May.

A press conference is planned for immediately after the opening ceremony at approximately 10.15am, in which Secretary General Noble and senior Bulgarian officials will participate.

The conference itself is closed to the media, however, a press briefing with specialist officers will be held on the second day. Opening and closing press releases will also be issued to journalists and made available on the INTERPOL website.

Simultaneous translations of the press conference and public sessions will be available in English, French, Spanish and Bulgarian. The event will be held at the Kempinski Hotel Grand Hermitage, Golden Sands, Varna.
