ICPO-Interpol - General Assembly 66th Session - New Delhi - 15th-21st October 1997

BEARING IN MIND Resolution AGN/64/RES/20 and Resolution AGN/65/RES/24 concerning a universal classification system and database for counterfeit payment cards,

HAVING STUDIED Report No. 15 entitled "Counterfeit payment cards",

TAKING NOTE of the payment card sector's willingness to assist financially in the establishment of the database, reference point and library,

THANKING the Working Party for the efficient and effective manner in which they have organized this project,

The ICPO-Interpol General Assembly, meeting in New Delhi from 15th to 21st October 1997 at its 66th Session:

AUTHORIZES the General Secretariat to continue with the project by:

(1) establishing a universal classification system for counterfeit payment cards,

(2) setting up an international payment card database as part of the future Interpol Criminal Information System (ICIS),

(3) establishing an international central reference point and central reference library for counterfeit payment cards;

ASKS the Secretary General to conduct further discussions with the private sector on funding possibilities, in accordance with the Organization's rules and regulations.

ABROGATES Resolution AGN/64/RES/20 and Resolution AGN/65/RES/24.
