Resolution No AGN/66/RES/13

Study of Interpol's system of statutory contributions

HAVING EXAMINED Report AGN/66/RAP. No. 16 submitted by the Executive Committee, and having approved the content of the report,

HAVING BEEN INFORMED of the Executive Committee's intention to study the system of statutory contributions paid by member countries,

BEARING IN MIND the discussions that have taken place in recent years regarding possible changes to the statutory contributions paid by member countries,

FULLY AWARE that the economic situation in a large number of member countries has altered since their contribution levels were originally decided,

NOTING that a new approach to the funding of Sub-Regional Bureaus will be required if these Bureaus are to survive,

The ICPO-Interpol General Assembly, meeting in New Delhi from 15th to 21st October 1997 at its 66th session:

APPROVES of the Executive Committee's decision to have a study undertaken;

ASKS the Executive Committee to submit to the General Assembly, proposals for updating and modernizing the system of member countries' statutory contributions and proposing new ways of funding the Sub-Regional Bureaus;

NOTIFIES the appointment of Mr Ronald K. Noble as an Adviser to the Organization with a mandate to study the system of statutory contributions within Interpol.
