2008 International Law Enforcement IP Crime Conference
24-26 June 2008 - Halifax/Nova Scotia, Canada
Following on the huge success of the 2007 IP Crime Conference in Niagara Falls, Canada, INTERPOL and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in partnership with Underwriters Laboratories will be hosting the 2008 International Law Enforcement IP Crime Conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on June 24th, 25th and 26th. The event will be held at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel.
The 2008 Halifax conference will focus on copyright and trademark issues of interest and value to law enforcement, including police, customs and prosecutors. The theme will be
“Working in Partnership Against a Common Threat” and participants will have an opportunity to interact with intellectual property crime experts from around the world. Topics include:
- Day 1 - Current Threats and Emerging Trends
- Day 2 - Best Practices and Case Studies
- Day 3 - Best Practices and International Cooperation
The Conference officially opens on June 24th at 09:00. The registration table opens June 23rd from 15:00 until 19:00 and will re-open on June 24th at 07:00. Participants are invited to attend a pre-conference reception on June 23rd from 18:00 until 20:00 to meet and network with fellow attendees. The Conference will end at approximately 15:00 on June 26th.

Registration
The cost for government personnel to attend the conference is $150 CDN. For non-government attendees the registration fee is $750 CDN. The registration fee covers the cost of breakfast, lunch and breaks during the 3-day conference as well as two receptions. Registration will be strictly limited to 500 delegates.

Getting to halifax
Halifax , Nova Scotia is easily accessible by air from a number of international locations. Delegates will fly into the Halifax Stanfield International Airport that is located approximately 30 minutes from downtown Halifax and the conference hotels. Please visit the Destination Halifax website at www.destinationhalifax.com/IPCC2008/ for more information on Halifax and transportation arrangements. Delegates are responsible for making their own transportation arrangements including obtaining appropriate travel documents.
Accommodations
A number of rooms have been blocked at special conference rates at several hotels located in Halifax. It is the responsibility of conference delegates to reserve their own rooms by contacting the hotels directly. The special rates have been guaranteed until May 11, 2008. Delegates are encouraged to book their rooms early due to the very limited number of hotel rooms available in Halifax during June.
