To act as a conduit for communication among participants of Interpol’s Environmental Crimes Committee, its working groups and projects and case-specific matters.
- To collect accurate and detailed data on environmental criminal activity for future analytical reports and to identify enforcement priorities.
- To set enforcement priorities based on the monitoring of environmental crime.
- To ensure that member countries make use of the Eco-Message to facilitate the exchange and analysis of information on environmental crime.
- To monitor environmental crime.
- To provide training and encourage capacity-building.
- To ensure that the Working Group’s activities and/or projects support national and international initiatives.
- To oversee the status of Working Group activities and/or projects to ensure that they progress at an appropriate pace in attaining their objectives.

- The Pollution Crimes Working Group will promote Interpol, its member countries and partners concerning all matters relative to the working group.
- The Pollution Crimes Working Group will provide ongoing and continuous technical and practical support related to training and seminars specific to priority enforcement issues identified by the working group.
- The Pollution Crimes Working Group will ensure that enforcement data obtained through the Internet, Eco-Messages and other sources is maintained as a priority for information and intelligence dissemination for international enforcement activities.
- The Pollution Crimes Working Group will focus on international priority projects as identified by the working group in a global enforcement effort to combat organized pollution crimes.
- The Pollution Crimes Working Group will co-ordinate closely with the Interpol staff and strengthen its network with other partner organizations.
- The Pollution Crimes Working Group will encourage members to strengthen and/or establish regional and national networks and working arrangements with such entities as the United Nations; the Basel Agreement; the International Network for Environmental Compliance and Enforcement; and the World Customs Organization.
- The Pollution Crimes Working Group will continue to rely on the professional reputation of Interpol to facilitate the sharing of information, intelligence and law enforcement strategies.
